“During the upcoming 2022-2027 term, the Pius X Secular Institute is committed to being sensitive to the global phenomenon of migration and will promote among its members gestures and actions that raise awareness of this social and human phenomenon in order to foster empathy and solidarity with migrants, displaced persons and refugees.” These are the words found at the beginning of a declaration that the members of the 2022 General Assembly unanimously approved less than a year ago.

A New Appointment for the Mission

The General Council of the Pius X Secular Institute has endorsed a recent decision by the director general to appoint a territorial director for Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. Father Miguel Ángel Avendaño Toledo of Guatemala was appointed to this position on March 20, the feast of St. Joseph, for a three-year term.

A New Mission For One Of Our Own.

On March 7, the Vatican press office announced that Pope Francis had renewed the Council of Cardinals. Among them, Pope Francis has invited Cardinal Gérald C. Lacroix, Archbishop of Quebec and member of the Pius X Secular Institute, to be part of this select group.
