A Family on Mission

“Today, as never before, the Church has the opportunity of bringing the Gospel, by witness and word, to all people and nations. A New Appointment for the Mission

The General Council of the Pius X Secular Institute has endorsed a recent decision by the director general to appoint a territorial director for Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. Father Miguel Ángel Avendaño Toledo of Guatemala was appointed to this position on March 20, the feast of St. Joseph, for a three-year term.

A New Mission For One Of Our Own.

On March 7, the Vatican press office announced that Pope Francis had renewed the Council of Cardinals. Among them, Pope Francis has invited Cardinal Gérald C. Lacroix, Archbishop of Quebec and member of the Pius X Secular Institute, to be part of this select group.

An Author Still in Demand

For a number of years, Father André Daigneault has been experiencing health problems that have prevented him from having an active ministry. He currently resides at the Cardinal-Vachon Residence in Quebec City. At the age of 84, his condition is stable and he continues to receive friends who support him in this stage of his life.

Going International: A Grace to Live !

On September 24th, the members of the General Council accepted new consecrated candidates to undertake the formation that will lead them to a commitment within the Pius X Secular Institute. Moreover, two of them come from countries where no candidate or member was present until now!

Secular Institutes : A Frontier Vocation

From August 24th to 28th, the General Assembly of the World Conference of Secular Institutes (CMIS) took place in Rome. This one had been postponed for two years because of the pandemic. But this year, nearly a hundred participants from 22 countries gathered at the Passionist Fathers’ retreat house to experience this important event.

An Assembly To Be Totally Committed !

From June 19th to 24th, the Pius X Secular Institute held its General Assembly at the Maison du Renouveau in Quebec City, after having been postponed twice because of the pandemic. The Holy Spirit was present and the consecrated and associated members listened to Him to live this important moment in the life of the apostolic Family of the Institute.

Celebration Time in Guatemala!

Last Saturday, June 4th, on the eve of Pentecost, the entire Pius X Secular Institute was in celebration! By the laying on of hands by the Archbishop of Santiago de Guatemala, Miguel Ángel Avendaño Toledo received the priestly ordination. He became the first Latin American priest of our Apostolic Family.
