A Family on Mission

I see the dawning of a new missionary age, which will become a radiant day bearing an abundant harvest, if all Christians, and missionaries and young churches in particular, respond with generosity and holiness to the calls and challenges of our time.” These words were written 30 years ago by Pope John Paul II as the conclusion of his encyclical Redentoris Missio.

“Enlarge the Space of Your Tent!”

“During the upcoming 2022-2027 term, the Pius X Secular Institute is committed to being sensitive to the global phenomenon of migration and will promote among its members gestures and actions that raise awareness of this social and human phenomenon in order to foster empathy and solidarity with migrants, displaced persons and refugees.” These are the words found at the beginning of a declaration that the members of the 2022 General Assembly unanimously approved less than a year ago.

A New Appointment for the Mission

The General Council of the Pius X Secular Institute has endorsed a recent decision by the director general to appoint a territorial director for Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. Father Miguel Ángel Avendaño Toledo of Guatemala was appointed to this position on March 20, the feast of St. Joseph, for a three-year term.

A New Mission For One Of Our Own.

On March 7, the Vatican press office announced that Pope Francis had renewed the Council of Cardinals. Among them, Pope Francis has invited Cardinal Gérald C. Lacroix, Archbishop of Quebec and member of the Pius X Secular Institute, to be part of this select group.

On Sunday, October 23rd 2022, the Church will celebrate World Mission Sunday. Each year, this day is offered to us so that all believers can renew their missionary impulse. “You will be my witnesses” is the theme proposed for this year.

An Author Still in Demand

For a number of years, Father André Daigneault has been experiencing health problems that have prevented him from having an active ministry. He currently resides at the Cardinal-Vachon Residence in Quebec City. At the age of 84, his condition is stable and he continues to receive friends who support him in this stage of his life.

Going International: A Grace to Live !

On September 24th, the members of the General Council accepted new consecrated candidates to undertake the formation that will lead them to a commitment within the Pius X Secular Institute. Moreover, two of them come from countries where no candidate or member was present until now!

Secular Institutes : A Frontier Vocation

From August 24th to 28th, the General Assembly of the World Conference of Secular Institutes (CMIS) took place in Rome. This one had been postponed for two years because of the pandemic. But this year, nearly a hundred participants from 22 countries gathered at the Passionist Fathers’ retreat house to experience this important event.
